CITIZENSHIP

8fb17716-9daa-4d58-8128-d29a20c2cb25

Italian citizenship is a status that offers people the possibility to acquire rights and duties, recognizing the fullness of civil and political rights. Foreigners who intend to apply for Italian citizenship almost always face a wall of misinformation. Our firm offers personalized assistance for each case:

- Submission of the application;

- Solicitation of the procedure when more than the 730 days provided by law have passed;

- Appeals to the TAR in case of Silence or Denial of the procedure.

There are many times when applicants are forced to wait more than 730 days, and this is where our Firm can and must intervene, when the foreigner needs to expedite their procedure. The Solorzano International Law Firm has been working alongside foreigners for years, understands their needs, concerns, doubts, and perhaps this is because its owner is also a foreigner and has personally experienced all these uncertainties.

How is Italian citizenship acquired?

Currently, there are several ways to acquire citizenship: iure sanguinis, that is, if you are born to or adopted by an Italian citizen; by residence and also by marriage.

Citizenship by Residence

A foreign citizen can apply for citizenship by residence if they have legally resided in Italian territory for at least 10 years and 4 years if they are an EU citizen. The first step to achieving our goal, that is, citizenship, is the verification and checking of all the requirements and documents necessary for submitting the application and subsequently for the favorable opinion of the Italian Authority.

The Solorzano International Law Firm checks whether these requirements exist and, if necessary, completes them or, in some cases, must give up the possibility of submitting the application, because our goal is to save our clients time and money.

Throughout the duration of their procedures, our clients can feel calm and supported, since our assistance does not end with the online submission of the application. For us, the importance of following each case until the positive result of the granting of citizenship is fundamental so that any problems that could lead to the denial of the much-desired citizenship can be avoided.

Citizenship by Marriage

A foreign citizen, married to an Italian citizen, can apply for Italian citizenship if they have legally resided in Italy for at least two years and, in the case of having children, for at least one year. If the spouses reside abroad, they must wait three years. However, the foreign citizen must remember that the waiting times are exactly the same as for citizenship by residence applications, that is, 730 days.

Waiting times

The waiting time according to what is established by law should be 730 days, however, the slowness of administrative offices due to bureaucracy, insufficient staff, etc., can result in your procedures remaining for several years without any conclusion.

Our goal is not only to reduce the long waiting times once the deadlines set by law have been exceeded, our mission is to speed up the process before the 730 days through our solicitation procedure, and only after verifying the inertia of the Authority and the risk of exceeding 3 years, the Solorzano Firm recommends filing an Appeal before the Regional Administrative Court, TAR.
